Booth A15
For Luxembourg Art Week 2026, Hangar Gallery is bringing together six of the artists it represents, each of whom, in their own way, embodies the multifaceted history of photography through works centered on the dual theme of landscape and the passage of time.
Sylvie Bonnot (FR-1982) continues to explore her distinctive practice
of ‘moulting’ and demonstrates that, two hundred years on, it is possible
to develop a new silver-based photographic technique. She draws a
parallel between the depletion of photographic materials and that of water
resources. In her series Prisme Liquide, her ‘moultings’ undulate or burst
forth in a torrent, sometimes leaving nothing but ‘drops’ of image.
Antoine De Winter (BE-1985) revives ancient and sometimes forgotten
techniques from the early days of photography: cyanotype, anthracotype,
and salt print. By incorporating rock or salt from the landscapes he
evokes as pigments and adorning them with gold leaf, his works become
precious fragments of a place’s memory.
(IL-1977) works with silver gelatin prints depicting
fragments of landscapes he encounters during long walks. Back in his
studio, he wraps them with threads of various origins; the repetitive act
of weaving evokes time and silence, conducive to meditation. Gradually,
the threads obscure the image, introducing a visual disruption.
Matthieu Litt (BE-1983) boarded a scientific expedition navigating
through the Arctic pole, once a Terra Nullius where explorators could
claim virgin frozen lands, and which is now facing the fastest warming
of temperatures around the globe. His medium format analog multiexposures
blend accident and poetry, creating serene yet uncanny
visions of a lost paradise.
Luc Praet (BE-1966) has been developing is series ALTERED for the
last ten years. He visits major museums all around the world to capture
fragments of masterpieces with his camera. He then meticulously alters
his prints to evoke the passing of time and the memory process.
