Kíra Krász HU, b. 1995
Kíra Krász explores the interplay between photographic images and their physical properties. Her practice is rooted in experimentation with analogue photography, printing techniques, layering, textures and installation.
Photographing mostly on film, she gives equal importance to portraiture, abstraction, landscape and the nude, as well as to the physical supports on which images are produced. Books, found papers and unconventional materials become active elements of the work, allowing context and presentation to shape the meaning of the image.
A recurring concern in her practice is the pursuit of a certain “timelessness”. Through altered darkroom processes, scratched negatives in the camera-body or incompatible paper to print on, she embraces chance, imperfection and material transformation as part of the photographic process.
Education
Kíra Krász holds a BA in Photography from the University of Brighton and an MA from the Hungarian University of Fine Arts in Budapest.

Awards & Grants
Kíra Krász received the Leica Coup de Cœur Prize at Hangar for her series A living Sense of Home in 2022. In 2021, she won the In the Shadow of Trees Open Call organised by Hangar Photo Art Center, was selected as a Judges’ Pick for the OD Photo Prize by Tom Page, and received a Jury’s Pick distinction at the LensCulture Art Awards, selected by Lesley A. Martin.

Kira Krász / Alice Pallot / Laure Winants 21 - 23 Nov 2025Hangar Gallery is part of Luxembourg art week 2025. TakeOff Sector / Stand D07. For Take Off 2025, Hangar Gallery presents three emerging women photographers under 35, exploring Time and Nature. Each artist developed their series over years, reflecting deeply on the medium of photography. Their distinctive works, often unique pieces, blend technique and message, focusing on an ecology of the image and images of ecology—a vision Hangar Gallery promotes. Kíra Krász reconnects human and natural timelines. She creates collages from vintage photos, placing human structures inside trees. Or she revisits an abandoned Hungarian sculpture park, once a symbol of rebellion, pondering on the life circle of art. Alice Pallot’s Algues Maudites is an anticipatory documentary on algae pollution in Brittany, mixing untouched photos with on-site elements used as color filters and prints altered by algae. Also creating a dialogue between art and science, Laure Winants’ Time Capsule captures Arctic ice and light changes, exploring more-than-human time through photographic experiments.Read more
