Overview

Since his early days in photography, Matthieu Litt has never ceased to question our relationship with the world. His first series explored the interactions between humans and the landscape. Over time, his research broadened to encompass the spectrum of the living world. Photography became his means of observing the complex network of relationships woven between living beings. Convinced of the reconstructive power of photography, he uses it in an attempt to restore the fractured connection between humans and their environment.

In pursuing this path, Matthieu Litt has gradually moved away from the documentary dimension of his medium in favour of a resolutely poetic perspective. Through his highly visual and material treatments, his work reflects the fragility of our ecosystems.

More interested in recreating an aesthetic experience than in capturing a subject, Matthieu Litt inscribes the different territories he explores within a sensitive and poetic cartography. In doing so, he strives to renew our sense of belonging to the world.
